This post aims to invoke nostalgia. I remember the late seventies/early eighties
when the 9:00 p.m. news on Aakashvani was awaited with bated breath. And then...
a deep, throaty voice would waft over the airwaves... "Aakashvani, ab aap ... se
    samachar suniye!"

Does anyone remember the names of some of the (male) news readers?
Brij Bhushan Sharma? Something Prasad Singh?

And again, does anyone know who intones "Sangeet Sarita.." on the famous/notorious
7:30 a.m. programme on Vividh Bharati? (I knew I had to RUN for school everytime
    I heard it!!)

And finally, how about compiling a list of the programmes that air on Vividh Bharati
in their chronological (?) order? Starting at 7:00 a.m. (6:54?) till, what, >> 10:00 p.m.? Since these might vary from region to region, lets do it for
    Vividh Bharati, Delhi.

On a related note, what exactly was the structure of Vividh Bharati? Was there a
"central" station, catering to several regional stations? In other words, was
Vivdh Bharati, Delhi different from Vividh Bharati, Period?

    Thanks,

    About news readers :

    One was Raman.

Another was Salma Sultan. She has grown very old now.

Re : other programmes --- I remember two 'kayasth' ladies,
both had Shrivastav as surname. One was quite dark.

There was another lady, Sarita Sethi. I think she had
an interview with Talat Mehmood that was telecast on a
Saturday afternoon. It had received due publicity beforehand.
And most office-goers left for home much earlier, in order
to see this interview. It was conducted at the singer's house.
And I remember that the gracious host had treated her to a
    sumptuous breakfast.

Around the late fifties and early sixties, there used to
be a 15-minute programme, from 6.30 pm to 6.45 pm.
It was devoted to songs from old films like "Sargam" and
    "Munimji" etc. .....
