Gimme a break man .. this song IS really well sung. The initial alaap, >albeit short, is extremely pretty.
On a side note, Asha in my opinion
does not belong in Lata's league anyway. The fact that someone lasted in >the singing business may not have everything to do with the singer's
talent or voice. There are lots of examples that come to mind
1) Geeta Dutt...
2) Vani Jayaram
3) Yesudas
4) Suman Kalyanpur.
etc.
On the other hand Shabbir Kumar (like Asha) has lasted decades.
Need I say more.
I wonder how many people agree with this assessment of Asha's
talents. IMHO, both are equally great. Both have their specialities.
Asha is far more versatile that Lata. Who could sing 'Jhumka gira re..', 'Paan khaye saiyan hamaro...', 'nazar laagi raja tore bangale par..',
to name just a few of her great songs.
I really would like to know how many people think Asha is not
in Lata's league because I vehemently disagree!!
