Georg Klingmann, born 20th April 1842 at Weinheim /Baden, died 3rd
December 1917 at Berlin. After he learned his occupation as a joiner and pianomaker, he went to Berlin in 1864 and founded the firm "G. Klingmann
& Co. Pianofortefabrik" at the adress "Wiener Straße 46". In the year
1903, his sons Bruno Klingmann (1873-1934) and Hermann Klingmann (b.
16th August 1875) entered the company. A police report from 7th February
1910 says, at this time the company has 120 employees and produces 1500 instruments every year. Most of their instruments were exported to the
UK and in the colonies.
The company was stopped by opening bankruptcy proceedings in 1929. -
Later someone produced pianos as "Klingmann & Co." (maybe anyone of the family) until 1944.
