Who plays higher than anyone? Vitally important to know.
On the original "Ole" from circa 1950, Maynard Ferguson squeled an E-flat above Triple C, according to my friend who had perfect pitch.
Near the end of the song there is a brief silence,
so my friend slowed the LP from 33 rpm to 16 rpm to hear it.
We have heard Maynard Ferguson play Triple C's live in many 1970's concerts.
But now there are several players who can play Triple C's and above.
There is a YouTube video showing Deshawn Whoever-ever squealing a Triple C.
In an interview that I think was in the 1990's, Maynard talked about playing a High G in the distance past, and commenting on past verus present, he said something to the effect,
"Back then, not everybody played High G's."
