Some of you may have seen this movie.

I'm trying to figure out the names of the two guitar players from the
beach scene. This was the scene when the main characters were on the
beach for the first time and many were going around topless, and it
    was a big party scene.

At one point, two guitar players go strolling buy singing and playing
    a fairly catchy tune.

I want to say that one of them may have been Caetano Veloso. He was
    taller than the other.

    Any help is appreciated.

I know this movie is fairly old, but it's been on cable recently. The music is good.

I actually had to buy the soundtrack album from the Netherlands and cost me almost $50 just for that particular song that you've asked about and it wasn't even on there. LOL Dwayne Griffin shygriff73@gmail.com

I did the same thing. I got mine off Ebay from someone in England for a song that wasn't on there as well. It was an instrumental piece I think called, "Rio Dawning." It was a fast piece done with the plane coming in overlooking Rio. I think Oscar just
took a slow song and sped it up but it's a fantastic piece of work that doesn't seem to have been recorded anywhere. Very frustrating.

I am trying to find out the name of the song in the movie where it is played with a harmonica. It is in the scene where they all arrive to rio and are driving along Copacabana beach and are about to talk about the girls going out with boys. There is a
piece in the background of a harmonica song. It is perhaps one by Toots but would like to know the name and who plays it. Thanks.

It feels rather strange to be posting in a thread I last participated in 16 years ago, and I’m surprised that the thread continues to be resurrected after all this time! Anyway, the song with the harmonica was composed by the late guitarist Oscar
Castro-Neves, who was the musical director of the film. The only recording I know of it appears on Oscar’s album “Brazilian Scandals,” with the title “Carioca Rap.” The arrangement of the song on the album however, is much more elaborate,
with percussion, horns, strings, and voices singing the melody, and has very little in common with the arrangement of the piece in the film. You can refer to my previous post in this thread for more info on the music in this film.

Great music, now listen to Jane Duboc and Oscar Castro-Neves on spotify, pity they don't have the album on there
