The time had come. I needed a different guitar. The Martin D-15 which
served me so well for three years was not the right tool for the job
    anymore.

I have a comfort level with Martin guitars that I am reluctant to
jeopardize which in turn prevents from giving anymore then passing
    thought to another brand.

got that out of the way....

I looked hard and serious at 000-15S' played a bunch on two store visits
and nearly bought each time. They have the 1.75" neck (prerequisite).
Great guitar, but I shied away because I was concerned about driving a mahogany top with my current, much softer playing style. Besides the
neck size, this was another reason for looking to replace the D-15.
Maybe after three years, I just didn't want another 15 either :-).

got that out of the way....

Just about to leave the shop I decided to browse a little more when I
spotted the 000-16SGT. Didn't even know there was such an animal. Got a little excited. The price was in line, it had everything the 15 had,
plus a shiny spruce top and quality tuners for 275 more....seemed about right. Liked it right off, A/B'ed for 20 minutes with the best sounding,
to me, of the six 000-15s' I played that day. Not surprisingly there was
a little more sound with a little less effort. Went back a few days
    later and bought it.

got that out of the way....

This guitar is so very different from what I am used to playing, that I
am still not completely as ease with our relationship. Well, at least
it's not intimidating me any more like it did for over a week. The neck
is great, the tone is delightful, a 12 fret is not an incumberence to my playing style, but darn it all to heck, I have yet to find a comfortable position to hold the guitar while sitting. Dreads, dreads, dreads, is
all I ever known. I've tried right knee, left knee, tilted back, angled
out, but I've yet to find a position where my right and left side more
or less both drape where they usually do. I guess I never thought it
would be an issue when looked into this size and never really noticed it
when I tried it out in the store.

didn't get this out of the way yet....

Finally I have to speak to Dreadnoughtian bigotry...shocking. I showed
up on music night excited to introduce my new playing partner....jeers
and catcalls... unbelievable. Comments like " when did you take up the ukulele?" stunned me. I offered the guitar to a ummm 'friend' to try....
he said 'I only play guitars with a full sound" I was floored. I felt so alone.

don't know how I'm going to deal with this one.....

Anyway, IMHO, the Martin 000-16GTS is a real decent box for a fair price which I expect will do me right once I teach the little honey how to sit
    on my lap.
