I was wondering whatever happened to RMMGA so I Googled it and, lo & behold, y'all still exist! The Framus I was given for my 13th birthday has had a a rocky journey. It served me well for 10 years but I gave it to my BIL in a weak moment. Running into
him 25 years later he still had it but it was horribly neglected and needed serious work. Off it went to Cat Fox for a neck reset, total refret and a new bridge that eliminated the tone sucking adjustable saddle. Cat also did the obsessively precise
intonation of the saddle that looks like a saw blade. It also got a set of lightweight sealed Gotohs and ebony buttons. This project had Cat swearing like sailor at the difficulty of removing the neck. This was a very early dovetail joint and God only
knows what the mad German scientists cooked up for glue. Cat could often be heard mumbling "Effin' Framus, effin' Framus". The sobriquet stuck. It was nothing short of amazing after Cat finished it. Loud, crystal clear, in tune(!). It sounded uncannily
like a Bozo. After a while a few LKSM's, a custom Breedlove 12 and one of the first Taylor 12's ever made fell into my hands and I wasn't picking up the Framus much so I re-homed it. The guy I sold it to kept in touch and he offered it back to me. I
pick it up this afternoon. It will be my only 12 string as I've pared down my collection drastically. There are a lot of memories attached to this old guitar.
