• Pickup suggestions.

From geoff@21:1/5 to All on Mon Nov 5 21:07:45 2018
I have a Martin D28. Virgin. Has never been dicked with.
I am finally succumbing to the idea of polluting it with a pickup.

Appreciate suggestions that have minimal impact on the guitar itself,
but must have a good neutral sound that has a full low response and no overbrightness or shrillness at the top.

    TIA

It depends whether your minimal impact is visual only. On the
recommendation of Martin Simpson and Stephan Sobell I had a professional luthier fit a Highlander iP-1 pickup to my M36. Very, very satisfied.

Minimal visual and minimal internal guff mounted to body that could
    alter tone.

    Will check out the iP-1.

K&K, I have them in all my acoustics, IMHO the only thing better is a microphone. Ask a luthier/repair tech to install it.

Shoreline usually has the best price.

Seconded. K&K are not the ideal gain before feedback solution for live,
but they complement a stereo pair of mics for recording well.

hmmmmmmmm....... I've found them to be the best SBT for avoiding feedback issues. One of the reasons I chose them.

My mileage varies quite a bit. I have a Martin which is pretty much
    Martin's take on a Takamine ( a JC-16RGTE ) and I take that. The
Korean D28 clone with the K&K howls like a banshee :)

I have to wonder if I don't play louder than you.
