...it is the most amazing
musical/spiritual/political thing I've ever seen on camera. During
"Jamming" Bob is in a total transcendental state, like you've never
seen him before, and this is what he say's (pay close attention to
this part).
I'm sure some of you have seen documentaries on Bob where they show
the footage from the 1978 One Love Peace Concert in Jamaica where Bob
is able to get the two opposing political leaders, Edward Seaga from
the right and Michael Manley from the left, to shake hands on stage.
If you have not seen this, you absolutely must!!! Even though the
footage is not great, it is the most amazing
musical/spiritual/political thing I've ever seen on camera. During
"Jamming" Bob is in a total transcendental state, like you've never
seen him before, and this is what he say's (pay close attention to
this part).
"To make everything come true, we've got to be together, yeah, yeah.
And to the spirit of the most high, His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I, run lightning, leading the people of the slaves to shake
hands. . . To show the people that you love them right, to show the
people that you gonna unite, show the people that you're over bright,
show the people that everything is all right."
A few seconds later he says,
"I just want to shake hands and show the people that we're gonna unite
. . . we're gonna unite . . . we've got to unite"
Now here comes the most amazing thing I've ever seen. He then jumps
up in the air three times screaming what sounds like, "Get, get, get,
get" and then BBBBAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!! --- a bolt of
lightning which you can see perfectly strikes behind the drummer. It
had to have been extremely close because the thunder and the bolt were
at the exact same time. Words cannot do this justice. You just have to
see the state of mind that Bob is in (or is not in, maybe I should
say) and understand the political significance of what he did to get
Michael Manley and Edward Seaga to shake hands minutes later.
It sounds ridiculous to say, but what I am saying is that Bob willed a
bolt of lightning from the sky. Remember, he said, "Run lightning.
leading the people of the slaves to shake hands" and moments later a
bolt of lightning strikes, and Bob gets these opposing figures who
hate eachother on stage to shake hands. Nobody in all of Jamaica or
the world for that matter, thought these two leaders would shake
hands. If you think, I'm outta my gord, pleae refrain until you've
seen this-- it's unbelievable!! Plus, everyone should see a Bob
documentary at some point anyway, so it will give you an excuse to
rent or buy one.
