Greetings fellow funkateers!
When I saw the discussion on who Cholly is (from Funk Gettin' Ready to Roll) I hoped it would put to rest my all-time p-funk question of
"Who is Cholly Bassoline?"
Cholly Bassoline, of course, is always in the "Thank Yous" on all
the Parliament, Funkadelic, Horny Horns, etc. albums; I can't think
of an album that doesn't have this name listed. Anyway, lacking a
better answer, I always figured he was a made up person with some
historical significance (the Cholly part) and the pun off of
'Bass Line' (the Bassoline part). And that when the song Cholly
came out, it was in reference to this same person.
If someone could help out a confused funkateer! ;)
Peace and Funkiness,
Ian
