It's true, Astral Dance is not space music. The eletronic music fanzine Synthesis did write that it was the best electronic album of that year. Astral Dance is more melodic, a la Vangelis, with elements of World Music
and Gregorian chants in its sampled vocals. Here's some info on the group:

Astral Dance is a remarkable electronic act from Sweden. Its third album, Dreamscape, features an innovative alchemy of Gregorian Chants, World
Music, magnificent background vocals, the unique sounds of flautist Bjorn J:son Lindh and the haunting synthesizers of Pelle Handen.

Keyboardist Pelle H„nd‚n founded Astral Dance in his synth studio in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1986. The first recording by Astral Dance was an independently produced LP titled Mindgate, featuring Pelle H„nd‚n on synthesizers and guitarist Joakim Wall, a cult album in Sweden with fiery guitar licks and explosive sequencing. Although the album was recorded for promotional purposes, it sold very well in electronic music circles.

A second album, Beyond, came out in 1988, released by Sweden's LCM
label. This time, H„nd‚n was accompanied by synthesist Johan Belin, a former member of Tribute and The Foundation. Beyond also featured a guest appearance by flautist Bjorn J:son Lindh, one of the finest fusion
    musicians in Sweden.

Pelle H„nd‚n was born in Boras, Sweden, in 1962. His father was a music teacher who taught him how to play piano at an early age. However, when H„nd‚n was only 8 years old, he flipped when he heard Jimi Hendrix. From there on, he shifted to electric guitar. His first rock band was founded
when he was 12. At the age of 15 he moved to Stockholm It was there that
he became a bass player for several rock bands. His first proffesional job
as a musician came up when he was hired to perform live with one of the
most popular Swedish rock bands at that time, Livkraft, from 1981 through 1983. In 1984, H„nd‚n founded Finnegan's Wake, a progressive rock band. It
featured Pelle H„nd‚n on bass and vocals, Jan Bingegard on
keyboards, Hakan Rangemo on drums and Joakim Wall on guitar. H„nd‚n experimented in the rehearsal room during his free time, playing
Bingegard's synths. He was really fascinated by the possibilities of electronic keyboards.

Pelle H„nd‚n has also made several soundtracks for movies ("Crossover"), television ("Husbonder") and commercials. Lektronic Soundscapes CD: LS-92002-CD
