    This Wednesday, October 17, 9--11:30 p.m., at Folk Night at The Ship Pub in
    St. John’s, Newfoundland, the headliner is celtic folk musician Jason
    Whelan. There is an open mic set between the two headline sets and open mic performers get a free Quidi Vidi beer. Also there are door prizes, which are usually $10 gift certificates donated by sponsors. Also the kitchen is open until 8 p.m. Cover is only $5.

    "Jason Whelan has been active in the music industry for over 20 years as performer, producer, composer and studio owner and has just released his 2nd solo work, Connection. He has worked with some of the top acts in the
    province including Great Big Sea, The Punters, The Dardanelles, Ennis, Shanneyganock and many others. An adept studio and stage musician, he plays numerous instruments and specializes in finger style guitar playing and the traditional music of Newfoundland, Ireland and Scotland. You can expect songs as well as jigs, reels, marches and airs on both guitar and bouzouki with
