On Monday May 13 at 7 p.m. Finbar Furey band, with his son
Fin Furey opening, will play Holy Heart Theatre (formerly
Holy Heart of Mary Auditorium) here in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
The following night they will play Princess Sheila Na Geira Theatre
in Carbonear, Conception Bay North, Newfoundland.

I will be attending the Monday night show and will probably
review it briefly in a followup to this post after the show.

These are his only North American dates.

It was great show. Fin Furey opened with a short set on
acoustic guitar and vocals and was well received, with
the audience singing along on the song Grace. Then
there was no break but Finbar and his band came on
stage and Fin played with them for the first few numbers.
Finbar played low whistle, five-string banjo, acoustic guitar,
and uilleann pipes, and sang, and was backed by a
fiddler, bass player, and keyboard player. They did
many of the numbers that are on the Don’t Stop This Now
DVD. They did two sets, and got three standing ovations:
one when they first came out, one before the encore,
and one after the encore, which was Will Ye Go Lassie Go
(Wild Mountain Thyme), in memory of Liam Clancy, and
which the audience sang along to.
