Drinks on me for the rest of the day.
I return to the VB&G with my tail tucked between my legs, and a paid up
Visa card for a few rounds on me.
Years ago I went to the dark side and got on Facebook, like many of the regulars did. It was OK for a while, but FB is a mess and I don't like
the jerks who run it. It took me a while, but I saw the light and I'd
like to hang out here again. I'm slowly weaning myself from Facebook.
I'll probably keep my FB account cuz I have a lot of relatives and
friends (IRL friends, not "FB" friends) with whom I want to keep in
contact. There are some folks who are talking about doing the same thing
as I am, and I hope more join in.
I still ride, thought not as much as I wanted this last season cuz of
the "flu." I'm not worried about the frickin' virus, but some of my
local riding buddies seemed concerned, plus half of the places I'd like
to visit are often locked down to some extent or another. But that's a
whole 'nuther topic for some other time. Speaking of the virus, I found
out a way to check myself for it every day. I call my friend, Art, and I
ask, "Hey Art. Do you know anyone with the virus?" He replies, "No." He
knows me, so I figure I'm OK then. <ba dump bump>
I made it to S.H.I.T. in east Tennessee in early September. Saw Larry,
Kurt, Boots, Paulie, and a few others.
I did ride to Templeton IA with a friend late last summer. Why Templeton
IA you ask? Well, my son bought a bottle of Templeton Rye whiskey for
me. It was good stuff. I read the label and it was distilled in
Templeton IA. I was itching to ride somewhere, and it was an easy day's
ride to get there, so I called my friend and away we went. Bought a
bottle of their best stuff, perused their museum, and then rode off to
my home town of Fremont NE. Spent the night...drank some
Templeton...then rode back to the Kansas City area. BTW, Templeton IA
has a rich history in bootlegging and clandestine distilling in the days
of prohibition. It's worth the trip there if you're in the area.

Glad to be back. Sorry for drifting away for so long.

I guess everyone drags their sorry ass back here eventually. After
today's sad news I thought I'd come home to where I first crossed paths
with many larger than life personalities that are no longer with us.
There's too many empty bar stools.

Hey TL. It's been too long, and we've lost too many along the way. I've ridden more miles with Redbeard than with anyone else. I learned so much
from him, and will never forget him.

lotsa friends back in here I haven't seen in a long time.Welcome back.
RE passing...
The thing about RE, he was the great interupter. Always cutting in
with another story of what happened to *him* on the road. But the
thing is, EVERY one of those stories was worth hearing about and
listening to. I'll miss that the most.
Phil, turn the lights out when we're all gone.
Once again, I'm not so sure I'll be the last man standing!

I'm sorry to hear the sad news. I had always enjoyed RE's commentary, years ago when I used
to frequent this newsgroup. Then one day he was gone from the group. I suspected it might have
been due to some of the trolling. My condolences to his family and friends. Have a round on my
tab, and let's spill a few drops to the memory of a thoughtful man.
