• Sold Our Last Harley...

From Bob La Londe@21:1/5 to All on Wed Dec 23 08:47:59 2020
Neither my wife or I have fired up one of our bikes in a couple years,
and Patti a few years longer than that. She finally told me the other
day to sell her bike. I told here it was a weak market and wouldn't get
much. Not like in the 90s where basket cases were selling for as much
as new bikes to some folks. I had been hoping she would let me put a
Paughco rear end on it and convert it to a trike for her so she could
ride again, but she just wasn't interested. She wanted it gone. The
'03 Anniversary Road Glide sold last week. Atleast its still in the
family. My cousin bought it. He's on the opposite side of the country
so its going to sit here for a while while he works out shipping, but
    its no longer ours.

Ever since I broke my leg on the V-Rod I've suffered a little PTSD in
the saddle. At one point I sold all of my motorcycles. Hondas Kawis Harleys... everything. Kept Patti's bike at the time. Heck she rode it
to work everyday back then. I started missing it, so I bought a few
rice burners. A VF750 Magna (which I kinda wish I'd kept) a couple
other Hondas I fixed up rode and sold, and the Vulcan Meanie which I
still have, but has not been registered in 5 years. I still enjoyed
firing up a bike and getting out to run some errands, but often I'd find
my self cutting the ride short because I just wanted to get the bike
back in the garage and get off. My doc (who is one of my fishing
buddies) told me one day when we were out fishing this year that it
sounded like a bit of PTSD. I'd not put my finger on it before, but I
think he's right. I think my posing will be limited to big fish
    pictures for the foreseeable future.

No the Vulcan isn't sold yet, but its up for sale, and I still have a
Shadow in the shop that I'll eventually fix up and sell. There is a
little Twinstar out back that will get the same fate.

My next Harley will likely be a Haas or a Mori Seki or a Hurco.

I find my self as often as not riding the '09 Sporty trike instead of
the bagger . The mile of dirt road to the highway has something to do
    with that .

Bubba (99 FXDX) became too tall and heavy for me, so he went to a new home. This was back in '17. The next day I went out and got a brandy new 650 Vulcan, who goes by the name of Maize. 500 pounds and the same dyno specs as Bubba. Terry still has
    Moses ('98 FLHPI).

Neither of us ride much anymore, but once I toss a leg over Maize I realize I'm not ready to get rid of my 2 wheels.

    Getting old ain't for sissies...
