    I don't think this is unique to humans. One of the cats (Spook, an
    elderly grouchy former feral female) routinely waits for me me to get
    up & come out with the dogs (who've spent the night playing "take the
    other dog/person's space when they shift in their sleep") at which
    point she makes a deposit in the litter box then snuggles into a spot
    where she watches me repeatedly spray room deodorizer and open the
    windows while the dogs beg to be let outside.
