A man arrested on suspicion of stabbing a female employee at a Mission
Viejo Amazon warehouse was identified by authorities on Wednesday as a 29- year-old Santa Ana man who works for a delivery service that partners with
the online retailer to transport packages.
Andrew Ariel Alfaro was booked on suspicion of attempted murder after an alleged attack on a 48-year-old employee that left the woman in critical condition, according to an Orange County Sheriff’s Department statement.
Authorities described Alfaro as a “delivery associate” who is “employed by
a delivery service partner that delivers packages on behalf of Amazon.”
A motive for the attack and any potential relationship between Alfaro and
the woman are still under investigation, authorities said.
Deputies responded to reports of a stabbing at the Amazon facility in the
25000 block of Jeronimo Road shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The woman — who had been stabbed multiple times in the upper torso — was
taken to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition, sheriff’s officials said on Wednesday.
Deputies found Alfaro in the parking lot of the facility, where he
surrendered and was taken into custody, according to the sheriff’s
department.
A knife was reportedly recovered at the scene.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the attack to contact
the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at 714-647-7000 or to submit
anonymous tips through Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
