Authorities have opened an investigation into the deaths of a 15-year-old
girl whose body was found dismembered and with signs of rape and that of
her alleged killer, who was lynched by neighbors in the Colombian
municipality of Algarrobo.
The minor disappeared last Thursday and her remains were found four days
later in a farm in a rural area of that town in the department of
Magdalena, according to the Colombian newspaper 'El Tiempo'.
The Mayor's Office of Algarrobo and the Governor's Office of Magdalena immediately reacted to repudiate the crime and held a security council, in which they announced a reward of 30 million pesos for information leading
to the location and capture of the person responsible.
The same day the remains were found, the neighbors identified the alleged perpetrator, Roberto Tatis de la Rosa, and found him hiding in a farm on
the outskirts of the town.
"A large mob of men and women attacked him with stones, sticks, knives and machetes. When the police arrived at the site, they could do nothing to
prevent the brutal attack by the community," said one of those present.
The lynching was recorded with cell phones and published on social
networks.
