OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. —
A major witness took the stand on Monday in the trial of a
father and son accused of murdering Osceola County mother,
Nicole Montalvo.
Prosecutors called Wanda Rivera to the stand Monday morning and
have been asking her about the time leading up to Montalvo's
death.
Investigators said Christopher Otero-Rivera and his father Angel
killed Montalvo, dismembered her body and buried her remains on
their St. Cloud properties.
So far, Wanda Rivera has told jurors she was on good terms with
Montalvo, who often left her son with the family.
"Did you exchange text messages often?" Wanda Rivera was asked.
"Would you say she even confided in you?"
"Yes," Wanda Rivera said.
Wanda Rivera she found out from the news that Montalvo's
dismembered remains were buried on her property and doesn’t know
how they got there.
Prosecutors honed in on her claim that she has no idea what the
men were doing the night Montalvo went missing.
Angel Rivera’s lawyer asked her about the laundry.
"Did you see any bloody clothing, shoes, or anything like that
to indicate that someone had been cut or stabbed or anything
like that?" the lawyer asked.
"No," Wanda Rivera answered.
Christopher Otero-Rivera and Angel are both facing second-degree
murder charges.
The prosecution is expected to rest Monday afternoon.
