I know the guy that made those grips...a jeweler from Santa Fe.

    # Anybody here ever tour Graceland?
    #
    # They had a few of his pistols on display and I saw possible the
    # prettiest
    # set of grips I have ever seen on a 1911 and I would love to have a set
    # on my
    # Kimber.
    #
    # They looked like turquoise Native American jewelry. Jagged little
    # pieces
    # fit together like a puzzle with a shiny metal, circular emblem in the
    # center. A real eye catcher. If anybody has seen these and knows
    # anything
    # about their availability I would love to hear.
    #
    # The tour was nice and he had some cool guns including an M16 circa the
    # mid
    # 60's His gun range, still set up, was in the back next to his office
    # in the
    # back yard. While the back-stop was inside you had to stand outside
    # and
    # shoot through a door to hit the target. A life-size torso target was
    # still
    # set up but had no bullet holes were in it. In a little glass case
    # just in
    # front of the target were some casings that he had and his buddies had
    # fired.
    # All kinds of calibers, both rifle and pistol were in the clear case.
    # I
    # looked hard and either they had fixed them or Elvis had never sent all
    # rounds through the door without hitting the frame or surrounding wall.
    # Pretty amazing considering all the liquor that was consumed there.
    # They
    # also had his Memphis Police Department ID card on display and his
    # badge.
    # Bet you didn't know they deputized him!!
    #
    # If you ever get the chance take a look. A wondrous yet tragic story
    # that
    # will touch even the most die hard Elvis haters. (Of which I am not
    # one.)
