• Anyone getting any new guns-stuff for Christmas?

Since it has been quiet here for a few days, I thought I would throw in
my 2 cents. Thompson Center/S&W ran, maybe still running, a special
with a nice rebate on their Compass rifles from varmint cal's to 300
win. mag. Their Compass is guaranteed to hold 1 moa or less for 3 shot
group with premium ammo. So, I ordered one in 308 with a Vortex scope,
    also on special.
Finally got a chance to take it out to the range a couple days ago and
give it a go with some hand loads. Sure enough it did hold a little
less than 1" at 100 yds. off bench, 3 shots. Next group was not so good
as the barrel was heating up and it could have been the operator also.
Just thought I would pass that along and wish everyone past and present
a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
    RIP Flim Flam

Nice to read this. Got me looking at reviews on Cabelas site and
apparently you get a lot of accuracy from the TC Compass for a low price
but action and trigger are not that great.

At my age, I'm not in the market for new shooting stuff but enjoy going
to the range to see the new stuff and first good weather after the
holidays a lot of new stuff shows up at the range.

After 30 years of marriage my wife has finally told me to just go buy a gun
for my Birthday and Christmas. So I'm looking at a CMMG 9mm AR rifle, just for fun.

I recently ordered a Savage Axis II Hardwood in 7mm-08 Rem. I really like the Savage/Stevens/Mossberg "accu-trigger". This is a "new" caliber for me which I intend to use for wild pigs. It should be able to handle anything I plan to shoot
from varmints @ 200+ yards (minute of squirrel) to an Elk or even a Moose...

On the other end of the spectrum I've also ordered a CZ USA Sharptail side by side in 20 ga., just because I've always wanted a sxs shotgun. Great for quail and dove.
