• BLR Extended Magazines

From Pavel Svinchnik@21:1/5 to All on Sun Jul 14 09:48:13 2019
I have a Browning lever action rifle chambered in .308 Winchester. The magazine only holds
four rounds; can I get a magazine with more capacity? I googled around but couldn't find anything.

No idea but I was curious as I have the older .308 BLR and read review
on Cabela's that magazines Browning now sell on site for $99 ($80 at
Cabela's) will not fit the older BLR. Never bought a second one as they
were maybe $30 forty years ago which I thought was outrageous then.
Great gun but companies should be more considerate of customer needs.

I bought a second magazine when I got the gun. The second magazine was stamped "243" while
the one that came with the gun was stamped "308". The guy at the gun store said that both
would hold the .308 Winchester as the case of the cartridges was the same for both calibers.

It turns out that the one stamped "308" tends to jam on the third cartridge while the one
stamped "243" fires all four cartridges without any problems. There is no visual difference
between the two, so I have no idea why one jams and the other doesn't.

The new model magazines do not look like the old one on my BLR so I
assume none would fit. I quit hunting and have not shot the BLR in
years but if I lost the one magazine I would have a problem. They
should sell them with two. Browning is not the only company that sells firearms with one magazine.
