• Amaryllis and Narcissus bulb fly

From Chuck from schodack@21:1/5 to All on Sat Aug 21 16:31:26 2021
They are the spawn of Satan and can wreck expensive and beautiful amaryllis bulbs

    Hate them passionately

Going to try moth ball storage

Tobacco juice treatment in soils and also DE in soil next year

I have been growing Hippeastrum since the late 1950s, moving the bulbs
from one house to the next. Currently, mine are in pots up on a table
and a counter outside, to keep them away from snails. In my climate,
    they are outside all year.

I have never seen anything resembling a grub on them, but I have had
problems with whitefly and mealybugs. For those, I take a thin stick
and poke two holes in each pot and then fill the holes with Bayer 2-in-1 fertilizer with systemic insecticide.
