• Decimator - 4 level WAD for Doom

From Borax Man@21:1/5 to All on Sun Nov 12 11:36:11 2023
Now that I'm on Usenet, in the interests of utilising this, and
shamelessly promoting my level, I introduce "Decimator", a 4 level was
for Doom which is made to be reminiscent of Episode 2. These are
levels for vanilla doom, so should work on any doom engine, even the
original DOS, though a limit removing enging is *strongly*
    recommended.

I went ahead and played all three of your WADs up there and put
    up my crappy demos: https://pretzelnet.org/doom/demos/boraxman/

    I died a lot :)

I had a lot of fun, but I also noticed that often the texturing
seemed like wallpaper rather than the surfaces of real objects.

If they work under limits, why strongly recommend limit-removal?

I found your thread on doomworld too. It's sad to see how much
response you got there and yet ZERO here. Rumors of Usenet's
revival appear to be greatly exaggerated...

    Thanks for posting!

Thanks for giving them a try! The reason I recommended limit removing was because I wasn't 100% sure they wouldn't bomb out on the original DOS client. They loaded, but whether there was a 'visplane overflow' which snuck in or not, I don't know. I don'
t think there was, but I never played them 100% through in it.

They are tough levels, but I think there are many who like me need more of a challenge because we're so experienced. I find many levels to just be a bit too much on the easy side myself.
DenDoom I never expected anyone to bother *actually* playing.
