Am I crazy that I still like using these over the higher priced paints??

    I can't tell the difference.

I still use these and FolkArt paints.
Sure they take a bit of effort to properly thin and maintain, but they're servicable enough.

Try and put them through an airbrush and you'll see the difference straight away. The pigment is much larger. If you do basic paint jobs they will look ok but they won't work for proper blending etc. I use them for bases and scenery, but might
actually just switch to Tamiya since they don't go through an airbrush.

For 99% of my mini painting Apple Barrel and Folk Art do the job perfectly well. There are only a couple that I am persnicity about.

If you try airbrushing with them you'll find out the difference with miniature paints.

If you can't then that's great. I can. But some of my old minis with ceramcoat paint loolk better than Ral Partha paint.

I keep going back to Tamiya paint. even though they make citadel seem like apple barrel price wise. But damn that Lacquer spray is so smooths!

    But CONTRAST will change everything!!!

I just started painting and use craft paints so far. While there's
a definite difference between producers I didn't really see that
much difference between good craft paint and citadel stuff. But I
might just be bad at recognizing it.

I don't see the benefit of these over making my own inks and washes honestly.

Just grind up your own pigment while you’re at it.

there could be new fine pigment colors coming out soon from Plaid. (makers of apple barrel) But my NDA says I can neither confirm or deny such things.
