Does anyone know where I can find the rules for playing an old card
game called 101? The gist of the game is to go out with the lowest
score. When one goes over 101,he has to pay the kitty? Thanks.
The 101 my Granda showed us started with everyone having 101 points, and was like gin rummy, everyone is dealt 7 cards, the dealer 8, dealer changes each completed hand passing round the players clockwise or anti-clockwise -doesn't matter. Dealer starts
by discarding a card they think they hope they don't need. Then from there on each player picks a card from deck, keeps what they think will give them a winning hand then puts one out in centre pile etc etc. You have to get a hand like -4,5,6. or 10,j,q,
k. or 3 of a kind or 4 of a kind. And the main point is not to get caught with cards in your hand, especially high number cards, because the card numbers are all added up for the losers and taken off their 101, the player with points at end of game wins.
You can either keep all your cards in your hand, even when you have 4,5,6. or 3 or 4 of a kind or put them down when u have like 10,J,Q. or 3 or 4 of a kind so u don't get caught with those high scoring cards or hold em and try and catch everyone else
out with more cards/points. But u might get caught out by someone else doing the same. U have to be able to throw 1 down at the end of ur hand. U can even add your cards to someone elses displayed hand which they have put down, like someone has put down
9,10,j. You can put down an 8 or q on their hand only if you're finishing your hand. Like you have 3 kings, 7,8,9. put down a card on someone elses displayed hand, then place your last card in the centre out pile.
