Some call it "Nickel Nickel " players throw a nickel into the pot (dish) at the beginning of each game and a nickel to the winner of each hand. Winner at the end gets all the nickels in the pot.

Hey, i know you poseted this forever ago, but my famly plays this religiously, its our favorite tratition. We call it nickel-nickel and toss the jokers like yall. Ive heard it likened to five kings but im not sure if its identical or not. We believe that
it was brought into the family through the US Marines as he was a career Marine. Was this brought to your family also through the military?

My grandparents taught me this about 30+ years ago. My grandfather was in the army so he may have learned it there. From what I have read, it may also be based on a popular game from the 30's/40's
