  • Raise of Player Hands?

    Hello Rec.Games.Computer.Stars!

    I've been having an itch lately to get back into Stars! and was curious who all still frequents or who would enjoy a casual pick up game? It has been since 2007 since I last picked up the game, though it reminds me of an aged wine that seems to only get
    better with age.

    People are most certainly still playing, and from the looks of it a number of them are now running in a fairly large game out on StarsAutohost.org. Since my last post I've been lucky enough to find someone to do a duel with, and if all goes well (or not
    well) I'll get a chance to try my hand at diplomacy in a larger game.

    I haven't heard of Atlantis PBEM in ages though, glad to see that one is still running as well!

    Altruist has been providing some healthy input on how to run the game as well, and we seem to have a good group of people interested. We are still looking for a few more players and game looks to be on a Weekday (MTWTF) till 2430 then every other Weekday
    (MWF) from the looks of it.

    Will have to say I'm really looking forward to the game either way!

    I've created an account on Autohost, but I can't post until it's approved. I'll be joining as it seems fun and I played a lot of stars a long time ago, but not for a decade.

    I'll be joining as it seems fun and I played a lot of stars a long time ago, but not for a decade.

    I wouldn't worry too much, you'll likely be the 5th player in addition to some possibly handicapped experts. Not entirely sure on that last part yet but eager to have you aboard!

    I play with a local group of friends every few years, usually we have arount 10 players, this year only six. Dropbox and laptops make it really easy to do blitz games or to crank through the first 30-40 turns. All in all, the game is still one of the
    most graceful games I've ever played.

    hello, I also wanted to re-visit stars! However, I now have win 10 and am having trouble getting the old game files installed ...

    Your best bet is to use either a VM of some kind or to use the DOSBox tools that a lot of people are using lately. Starsautohost has a good resource in the forums put together by the community there that allows for a stand-alone and potentially low-

    Christopher, thank you for your reply... I was not really expecting anyone to respond... To such an old game in a forgotten newsgroup... However, i have been doing alot of research since yesterday... I have already found the site you referred to... I am

    Hello Stars! Players.

    Is anybody interested in a quick game over New Years or tonight? Short notice, I guess, but I just can't wait for the second Beginner's Game to get started. Also, there's a second beginner's game at AutoHost, if anybody is interested. We've got 3
