"STARS!.EXE" and "STARS!.HLP" game
This game runs well on "Windows XP" and older Microsoft computers.
It also runs on "wine" on Linux, and "Crossover" on Apple.
Do not attempt to play on newer versions of Windows. It was not designed to run on those systems.
It requires older hardware in order to run.
On virtual machines new colonists have to battle each other each time you reload the virtual machine, so don't use a virtual machine.
Try to make sure you don't move game files, because the "machinery of the game" wont know where to find the files, and new copies of colonists will have to battle each other to make sure the "machinery of the game" works.

Some Notes:
never play with random events. If you do, always advance to the next turn after a random event as soon as possible.
put the "stars!.hlp" file in the same directory as the "stars!.exe" file stars!.exe can be renamed, but stars!.hlp cannot be renamed.
if you need to move the files, always delete stars.ini file in the windows directory first.
then start stars!.exe and re-enter your serial number.
never press F12, or else ten turns will be generated.
if you cannot find a website, try looking in the Internet Archive's Way Back Machine.
