• Three other systems to use character points

MULTI-LIMIT MODIFIERS: Once the limit reaches -80%, further modifiers do
have an effect, but first you must apply the first -80% of modifiers, and
then the next -80% to the new total, etc, and the rest to the final total value. For example, if the base value is 100 and the modifiers total -100%
then you will reduce it to 20 by the -80%, now there is -20% remaining,
which makes 16 points in total. (For disadvantages and for modifying
modifiers that effectively have a negative point value, instead limit it
to -100%. However, in many cases it is more appropriate to use a negated disadvantage and apply the modifiers to it instead.)

VARIANT MULTIPLICATIVE MODIFIERS or MULTI-APPLIED MODIFIERS: In addition
to the above, also apply most limitations that apply to the main trait
to any enhancements of that trait too ("limited enhancements" (applying limitations to enhancements without applying to the main trait) are still possible too), but with some exceptions, which are listed below. (This is similar than the multiplicative modifiers in GURPS Powers, but sometimes results in more or less points than that rule does. However, it will always result in less or equal points (for a positive trait) than the standard (non-multiplicative) system.)

POINTLESS or POINT-FREE: Ignore character points entirely. You are allowed
to make up whatever character you like to make up, and need not worry about point totals, disadvantage limits, hard-to-decompose traits and skills, disadvantages that are not disadvantageous to the campaign, skills or
traits that are not believed to be useful for this campaign (therefore, it
is possible to be surprised due to not knowing everything ahead of time), powers that are difficult to define by the existing traits, etc. Character points are still used for impulse buys, but no other use.

The exceptions in the variant multiplicative modifiers are:

    * Do not apply a limitation to an enhancement that does not limit the
ability if that enhancement is used. For example, Reduced Range does not
limit Melee-Capable, and Cannot Follow does not limit New Worlds. (You
can still apply both modifiers, but that specific limitation does not
reduce the value of that specific enhancement.)

    * If a limitation requires an enhancement and does not limit the ability
more than the required enhancement enhances it, then add up the modifiers
and treat them as a single modifier. For example, Rapid Fire worth +50% and Extra Recoil worth -10% would be treated as a single modifier worth +40%.
