I used to have a madness with these, melee-ing with a barbarian and
losing 5% of my games to them. The current pace I'm taking nethack at
appears to be operational. It's a frenetic cautious double time. I'm
not flying at monsters. Maybe I'm getting jaded about earning
experience. Or maybe it had something to do with the minetown guard I
had to get around to throw daggers at the rascal. Anyways, I'm cured.
floating eyes remain an obstacle. In the past week, I one-shotted a
floating eye, and later hit another one once, was frozen (and most
unusually survived it) then I hit again killing it. They probably only
got me once, but it's not because I've been practicing safe melee on them.
