• Metaserver (meta.xpilot.org) is down

From Lucas Martin-King@21:1/5 to All on Sat Jul 8 20:35:35 2023
    Hi all,

Out of the blue, I fired up XPilot again after many years, and discovered the metaserver isn't running.

I've managed to find a python implementation (from BloodsPilot) which I've tweaked a bit and published here: https://github.com/lmartinking/xpilot-metaserver

Was the official metaserver code ever released? And would there be any interest in firing it up again?

    Thanks in advance,
    Lucas

It would be nice. Now we should finally have no problems with latency
    and bandwidth.

The meta server code wasn't released, but it's been running on meta.xpilot.org until a few months ago when it got accidentally shut down in a local cloud env cleanup project :) It should be back and running now. One issue is that the IP address has
changed, and I don't believe the xpilot servers do a DNS lookup except on startup, so they'll be reporting to the wrong server until they're restarted.
