This spell will affect up to a maximum 3+IntMod articulated humanoid manikins with a total weight of 10 pounds/caster level. Should the caster not create as many as possible, casting again will allow animation of more, but the limits of count and weight
will still apply to the total created.
They can be made of anything as long as they are articulated; not simply sculpted with elbows, knees, etc., but actually having constructed joints. Their hit points are the hardness of the material used +1 point per pound of weight; a one-pound manikin
made of wire and papier-mâché would have only 1 HP while a 10-pound manikin made of steel would have 20. A manikin's strength will be the hardness of the construction material +5, modified by size.
Manikins can be animated up to the range limit allowed and, as long as in view of the caster within that range, can be directed by the caster's thoughts to perform any actions the caster knows how to perform (mixing ingredients, turning a wheel, combat,
et cetera). In view and range, the manikin can enter melee combat with the caster's BAB, modified for strength and size.
If the manikin is not in view or is beyond range it will continue to perform whatever directive it was last given. For example, if given the directive to “walk” it will proceed forward. This does not mean it can climb or descend stairs if it
encounters them or stand up if it falls. Should it fall over it will continue to “walk”, going nowhere. If the caster re-enters range, the manikin can be directed once again.
