I always assumed basilisks were... larger. Maybe cow sized?
But I have this project of getting all the monsters from the manual as >miniatures, and lately I found a few of the crop of official DnD minis
on clearance.
...making those nearly the only 5th ed things I have bought so far...
In any case I was quite happy with their looks, until I got to the basilisk. >Which is absolutely tiny.

This lead to me frantically leafing through a few books and figuring out
that
a. this thing is still too small
b. basilisks actually aren't that much bigger in the actual rules (their
main body without tail should be man-sized)
But how big are they in your head?

About the size of an ottoman.
