Another argument for playing chess on the computer rather than
going someplace to play a game in-person.

Two men were shot, one fatally, on a Bronx street Friday after a
gunman opened fire during a sidewalk chess game, police said.

The incident happened about 12:15 a.m. on Adee Ave. near Bouck Ave.
    in Laconia, cops said.

Witnesses told police that a group of men were milling about, with
at least two playing chess, when shots rang out.

Police said the dead man, 35, was shot in the chest. The second
man, 57, was shot in the shoulder.

Medics rushed both men to Jacobi Hospital, where the younger victim
died of his wounds. The older man was in stable condition Friday.

    No arrests have been made.

The surviving victim told police he was playing chess when he heard
a shot and realized he had been hit. He refused to say anything
more to detectives, and police said it wasn’t clear what
connection, if any, he has to the man killed — or who pulled the
    trigger.

I've never heard of anybody failing to make their time control that
way though about 5 years ago we had a well known local player suffer a
fatal heart attack during a tournament.
