More reasons why XG and Gnubg are garbage

I found it impossible to use these "learning
tool" bots to play bot vs. bot, bot vs. human,
human vs. human, using manual dice.
In XG, even if you uncheck "auto roll" option, it
displays the dice dialog for computer player/s
automatically anyway. So, you can't do anything
else until you roll. By that time it is too late to do
anything else like looking at dice distribution, etc.
before rolling the dice. If you close the dialog by
clicking the "X", it reverts to internal dice and rolls
the dice right away. After that you need to reset
the dice to manual, go back to the position, click
"play from position", select "different dice" option
just to get back to square one and keep looping...
What a cheap "gilded brown lily"...! :(
In Gnubg, human vs. human seems to work okay.
In bot vs. human, even if you uncheck "auto roll"
option, it displays the dice dialog for computer
player/s automatically anyway also. If you close
the dice dialog without rolling, then you are totally
screwed. After looking at temperature map, etc. if
you click "game" then "play computer turn", it rolls
00, displays "player cannot move" and waits for you
to click to roll the dice for the other player. Then you
need to go to back two steps to the previous roll for
the human player, play it and when the dice dialog
is displayed, roll or repeat the above... :(
It's worse in bot vs bot. If you close the dice dialog
without rolling, you have to click the "stop button"
first (to interrupt whatever it's busy doing). Then if
you click "game" then "play computer turn", it rolls
00, displays "player cannot move" but in this case
since the other player is also a bot, it displays the
dice dialog automatically again. Then you need to
go to back two steps to the previous roll for the first
bot, click "game" then "play computer turn" to make
it play that roll again. When when the dice dialog for
the second bot player is displayed, roll or repeat the
above... :(
What a free "gilded brown lily"...! :(
