• RQFTCIFFF12 Game 3, Rounds 7-8: Lee, novel settings

From Mark Brader@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jan 5 23:40:35 2022
These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2012-02-06,
and should be interpreted accordingly. All questions were written
by members of Footloose and Firkin Free, but have been reformatted
and may have been retyped and/or edited by me. I will reveal the
correct answers in about 3 days.

For further information, including an explanation of the """ notation
that may appear in these rounds, see my 2021-07-20 companion posting
on "Reposted Questions from the Canadian Inquisition (RQFTCI*)".

    * Game 3, Round 7 - Arts & Literature - Superheroes of Stan Lee

    Please see: http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/03-07/super.pdf

On the 2-page handout, we give a picture and a question on the
superheroes created by Stan Lee. (Well, that's how the round's
title and preamble went in the original game, but as you will see,
Lee certainly did not create all of these characters. Presumably
he did draw them all, or write stories about them, at some point.)

    1. Note: for questions #1-2, group pictures such as #2 and #6 will
not be accepted as answers. Which picture depicts the superhero
whose alter ego, Steve Rogers, was a frail young man who was
enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental
serum in order to aid the United States war effort?

    2. Which picture depicts the superhero whose alter ego, Tony Stark,
is a businessman and owner of a multi-billion-dollar corporation?

    3. Name the superhero in picture #10.
    4. Name the superhero in picture #13.
    5. What is the alter ego of the superhero in picture #15?
    6. What is the alter ego of the superhero in picture #7?
    7. What is the name of the group of superheroes in picture #2?
    8. What is the name of the group of superheroes in picture #6?
    9. Name the superhero in picture #1.
    10. Name the superhero in picture #14.

    * Game 3, Round 8 - Literature Geography - Settings for Novels

Give us the North American city that is the primary setting for
each of these novels. These are real cities, not fictional.
Note: if any of them take place in suburbs, give the *main city*
    of the metropolitan area.

    1. "The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz" by Mordecai Richler.
    2. "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger.
    3. "Mystic River" by Dennis Lehane.
    4. "Interview with the Vampire" by Anne Rice.
    5. "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair.
    6. "The Joy Luck Club" by Amy Tan.

Write yes, draw no. (At least for those from Marvel. I doubt Lee ever
