    2. Name either of the teams that """have appeared in the most"""
    Super Bowls.

    3. What team was the first to win the Super Bowl after reaching

    5. The New York Jets were the first team from the AFL to win the
    Super Bowl. Name the heavily favored NFL team they defeated
    in Super Bowl III.

    6. The Green Bay Packers won the game now known as Super Bowl I.
    Which was the losing team?

    7. Who was the first African-American QB to start in a Super Bowl?
    He led the Washington Redskins to victory in 1988 and was named
    game MVP.

    8. Who has been named the Super Bowl MVP """the most times, with
    3 to his credit"""?

    9. Which is the """only current NFC team""" never to play in the
    Super Bowl? Hint: They made the playoffs """this year""".

    10. In which US city will Super Bowl """XLVI""" be played on
    2012-02-05? *Note*: I will also accept the answer for Super
    Bowl LVI, coming on 2022-02-13.

    * Game 1, Round 3 - Sports - Super Bowl Trivia

    With the Super Bowl """just around the corner""", it's a good
    time to see what you know about the history of this game.
    For all questions that ask for a team, give the team name (like
    "Maple Leafs"). *Note*: As usual, if any answers have changed
    since the original game and a correct answer still exists, you
    may give either the original or the new answer.

    1. What is the """only team that has""" appeared in more than one
    Super Bowl and won every time?

    Packers

    2. Name either of the teams that """have appeared in the most"""
    Super Bowls.

    Patriots

    3. What team was the first to win the Super Bowl after reaching
    the post-season as a wild card? They did it in 1981.

    Dolphins

    4. What winning team """has scored the fewest""" points in a Super
    Bowl game? This happened in 1973.

    5. The New York Jets were the first team from the AFL to win the
    Super Bowl. Name the heavily favored NFL team they defeated
    in Super Bowl III.

    Colts

    6. The Green Bay Packers won the game now known as Super Bowl I.
    Which was the losing team?

    Chiefs

    7. Who was the first African-American QB to start in a Super Bowl?
    He led the Washington Redskins to victory in 1988 and was named
    game MVP.

    8. Who has been named the Super Bowl MVP """the most times, with
    3 to his credit"""?

    Brady

    Mark Brader:
    These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2012-01-23,
    and should be interpreted accordingly... For further information...
    see my 2021-07-20 companion posting on "Reposted Questions from
    the Canadian Inquisition (RQFTCI*)".

    * Game 1, Round 1 - Current Events (excerpt)

    Answer these 2012 questions if you like for fun, but for no points.

    1. What website reportedly closed down for 24 hours on Wednesday
    to protest the proposed US "Stop Online Piracy Act"?

    Wikipedia. Dan Blum got this.

    As Gareth Owen said in 2012, there were actually a number of protests
    of this type, "but Wikipedia got nearly all of the press". This was
    also noted at the original game, but I decided the easiest route
    was to leave the question mostly unedited and accept other answers
    if they proved correct.

    One entrant in 2012 asked why "reportedly" was in there, when the
    shutdown did happen. That was my addition by way of correction to
    the original question. Wikipedia was widely reported as having
    closed down for the day, but in fact it didn't. First, as some
    other entrants noted, only the English-language Wikipedia site (en.wikipedia.org) was involved, and then only its main site, not
    the mobile-phone interface. And more important, it didn't actually
    shut down. It just used a Javascript-based redirection directing
    all users to a "blackout front page". On that page was a link to
    a page that explained the reason for the protest and pointed out
    that disabling Javascript would render the site accessible as normal
    -- except for the few functions that actually require Javascript,
    such as table sorting. Also, as a separate action, all editing of
    articles was blocked for the day.

    2. Name the cruise ship that ran aground off the Tuscan coast.

    Costa Concordia. Joshua got this.

    * Game 1, Round 2 - Geography - Countries in Asia

    We will provide the name of a country (well, most of them are
    countries), and you provide the number on the map:

    http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/msb/01-02/asia.pdf

    I'll substitute a compact format for most of the results. On each
    question unless otherwise noted, it was 4 points for everyone --
    Joshua, Dan Blum, Pete, Erland, and Dan Tilque.

    1. Syria. -> #11.
    2. Nepal. -> #28.
    3. Malaysia. -> #43.
    4. Oman. -> #10.
    5. Afghanistan. -> #21.
    6. Vietnam. -> #39.
    7. Macau. -> #14. 3 for Dan Blum; 4 for everyone else.
    8. East Timor. -> #47.
    9. Pakistan. -> #24.
    10. Myanmar. -> #31.

    So there were 37 decoys. Here they are in alphabetical order;
    decode the rot13 and give the numbers if you want for fun, but
    for no points.

    Joshua and Erland tried most of these and unless otherwise noted
    they both got them right.

    11. Bahrain. -> #23. Only Joshua got this.
    12. Bangladesh. -> #30.
    13. Bhutan. -> #29. Only Joshua got this.
    14. Brunei. -> #46.
    15. Cambodia. -> #40.
    16. China. -> #32. Only Joshua got this.
    17. Hong Kong. -> #13.
    18. India. -> #25.
    19. Indonesia. -> #45.
    20. Iran. -> #22. Only Erland got this.
    21. Iraq. -> #12. Nobody got this.
    22. Israel. -> #3.
    23. Japan. -> #36.
    24. Jordan. -> #4.
    25. Kazakhstan. -> #17.
    26. Kuwait. -> #6.
    27. Kyrgyzstan. -> #19.
    28. Laos. -> #41.
    29. Lebanon. -> #2.
    30. Maldives. -> #26.
    31. Mongolia. -> #33.
    32. North Korea. -> #34.
    33. Philippines. -> #38.
    34. Qatar. -> #8.
    35. Russia. -> #18.
    36. Saudi Arabia. -> #5.
    37. Singapore. -> #44. Only Joshua got this.
    38. South Korea. -> #35.
    39. Sri Lanka. -> #27.
    40. Taiwan. -> #37.
    41. Tajikistan. -> #20.
    42. Thailand. -> #42.
    43. Turkey. -> #1.
    44. Turkmenistan. -> #15.
    45. United Arab Emirates. -> #7.
    46. Uzbekistan. -> #16.
    47. Yemen. -> #9.

    * Game 1, Round 3 - Sports - Super Bowl Trivia

    This was the hardest round in the original game.

    2012 answer: San Francisco 49ers (then 5-0, but now 5-2).
    2021 answer: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0 in 2002 and 2020).

    The Green Bay Packers lost in 1998, the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1996
    and 2011, and the New England Patriots 5 times from to 2018.

    2. Name either of the teams that """have appeared in the most"""
    Super Bowls.

    2012 answer: Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers (8 each).
    2021 answer: New England Patriots (11). 4 for Joshua, Pete,
    and Dan Tilque.

    3. What team was the first to win the Super Bowl after reaching
    the post-season as a wild card? They did it in 1981.

    Oakland Raiders. 4 for Joshua and Pete.

    4. What winning team """has scored the fewest""" points in a Super
    Bowl game? This happened in 1973.

    2012 answer: Miami Dolphins (they beat the Washington Redskins 14-7).
    2021 answer: New England Patriots (they beat the Los Angeles Rams
    13-3 in 2019). 4 for Joshua, Dan Blum, and Pete.

    5. The New York Jets were the first team from the AFL to win the
    Super Bowl. Name the heavily favored NFL team they defeated
    in Super Bowl III.

    Baltimore Colts. 4 for Joshua, Pete, and Dan Tilque.

    6. The Green Bay Packers won the game now known as Super Bowl I.
    Which was the losing team?

    Kansas City Chiefs. 4 for Joshua, Pete, and Dan Tilque.

    At the time, "Super Bowl" was an unofficial nickname; later it was retroactively made official.

    7. Who was the first African-American QB to start in a Super Bowl?
    He led the Washington Redskins to victory in 1988 and was named
    game MVP.

    Doug Williams. 4 for Joshua.

    8. Who has been named the Super Bowl MVP """the most times, with
    3 to his credit"""?

    2012 answer: Joe Montana (1982, 1985, 1990). 2021 answer: Tom Brady
    (5 times: 2002, 2004, 2015, 2017, 2021). 4 for Joshua, Dan Blum,
    Pete (the hard way), and Dan Tilque.

    9. Which is the """only current NFC team""" never to play in the
    Super Bowl? Hint: They made the playoffs """this year""".

    Detroit Lions (still true, as regards the Super Bowl). 4 for Joshua
    and Pete. 3 for Dan Blum.

    10. In which US city will Super Bowl """XLVI""" be played on
    2012-02-05? *Note*: I will also accept the answer for Super
    Bowl LVI, coming on 2022-02-13.

    2012 (XLVI) answer: Indianapolis. 2021 (LVI) answer: Los Angeles,
    or more precisely Inglewood -- accepting either.

    I commented in 2012: "I'm kind of surprised at how many people knew
    several answers in this round but missed this question, which must
    be easier now that that date is in the past."

    Scores, if there are no errors:
