• Seven Day Roguelike 2020: Date Is Chosen!

From Jeff Lait@21:1/5 to All on Sun Jan 19 08:03:49 2020
The week has been chosen for the Sixteenth Annual 7DRL Challenge!

Rather than vote for the date, we now follow a simple rule to select
the date which matches most of the historically voted for periods.
A quick check is done in the twilight days of the year so we can start
the new year with an announcement on the first Wednesday!

    The rules are:

On the first Wednesday of the year the date will be announced.

The date will *usually* be the first full week in March. Specifically,
the 9-day period starting from the first Saturday of March.

The exception will be if GDC, or some future equally important conference,
is scheduled in that interval. In this case we will delay the challenge
a week and make any such delay known by the first Wednesday of the year.

Enough long-winded pre-amble! So when is it this year?

The week for the Seven Day Roguelike Challenge has been chosen!

Checking the tea leaves, we determined that GDC would be a problem so moved it a week earlier. Apologies for the late announcement, I was busy trying to learn arabic to determine if any of the other posts were relevant to this!

Within the week of February 29th to March 8th, you are hereby challenged to write a roguelike in 168 hours!

To participate, follow these simple steps:

    1) Any time in February 29th or March 1st (as measured in your time zone), register your roguelike.
    2) Write a roguelike.
    3) After 168 hours, if you have completed a playable roguelike, add your download link to the registration site! If not, set your status to failed and we will all commiserate and agree that given a few scant more hours, it could have been great.

The intent is to use itch.io again as the host for the 7DRL.

In case everything fails and there is no site to register at,
    use rec.games.roguelike.development as a backup.

    Good Luck!

So it monosemanticly determines when next event shall be - half year later.
I mean, that where all developers publish stable versions of their work.
    (Go look in paedia...)
Release Party! When we can release chthonic terror after grooming.
    06.09.2020 is the day, amirite?
    Anyway, i shall no.
