    Well, before Mini-Madoff Jr (Bankman-Fried) the media was reporting about the crypto crap as if it was legit. Since this guy, however, we're starting see some truthful articles on the subject.

    Yes, is anyone still buying this crypto crap? It's like looking to invest with Madoff.

    Ya, it doesn't look like a slap-on-the-wrist coming; and as far as total money involved, Bankman Fried is light years beyond Madoff, and Madoff got hit with a big sentence;

    I never paid any attention to SBF until his legal troubles. The stunning
    part to me is that when I watch any interview that he does, he comes across
    as a totally clueless idiot, like a Gen -Z moron without any grasp on
    complex issues, and his girlfriend was even worse.

    I suppose it's a Monday Morning QB situation where we can all see it now.
    The journalists gave him a pass as perhaps an eccentric savant, which is in some ways understandable because what other explanation is there when you're talking to an idiot but the idiot is worth $100 billion? It's a lesson that you always need to consider the other explanation: he really is an idiot running a Ponzi scheme.

    Twitter says that the O/U on his sentence is 80 years. Usually the feds run sentences concurrently (so seven 20-year sentences running consecutively is unlikely), so I would guess under that, but it's going to be substantial because the sentencing guidelines are driven by the dollar amount of the
    fraud, and in this case it's yoooooge.

    Ya, definitely a spoiled brat rich kid; his parents are professors at Stanford.

    The judge originally let him stay at the parents house under a house arrest type of agreement; which made it look as if there was plenty of "special treatment" coming in this trial; but there was so much arrogance in attitude incidents (the judge hauled
    him out of his parents house and to jail for jury tampering related "stuff."), etc, that even the judge probably had had enough of his bullshit.

    There are also international-law violations against Bankman Fried, but they were set aside to make extradition for trial easier: he will probably be tried on these charges at a later date. Maybe if the current-trial sentence is satisfactory to the
    prosecution, they'll drop the internation-charges?
