It's impressive. It was a ginormous basketball to celebrate the Summer Leagues starting. The walkway bridge between the Pallazzo and Wynn is even more crowded now because everyone stops to take pictures.

Additional update: there were three little ducklings in the Mirage lagoon a few weeks ago. I haven't seen them since then. I hope they're OK.

People staying a all the surrounding hotels will be asking for a: "Sphere View" room please.

And then the reviews will be coming-out about the inside experience/price in seeing a show.

I'm guessing that it'll be an awesome venue for a show, otherwise it'll be an awesomely expensive outside ornament for the Strip.

The YouTube site: "Miles For Memories" has done a good job covereing the Sphere's development; and specs of the audio/visual aspects and the bands/acts, etc. that'll be there.

The guy who did the long video said they shut it down @ 11pm right now, but I bet they'll eventually have it up all night

I saw it in construction. Unimpressed. I saw it lit up. Pretty damned cool. I think I read it cost something like 2 billion to build. If so, that is nuts. It better be more than pretty cool for any ROI.

I haven't followed the ins, outs, construction costs, and prognostications on The Sphere but given the idiot prices tourists pay to go to the nightclub DJ shows (Someone told me the DJs were paid $10-20,000 per show- for selecting someone else's music,
bouncing up and down and waving their hands. Are the DJs involved in producing the special effects, choreographing the sideshows, etc.? I don't know.) it seems it would be a massive revenue producer.

The real winners are the pedestrians who get something like a free show. With the planned shutdown of the Mirage volcano and the disapperance of the free TI pirate show several years ago it will fill a gap.

The Fontainebleau (opening soon) is "Miami theme." Which is a good positive, but that would be an opportunity to build a "Strip attraction" out front of some kind; but then, there isn't any room to do it due to the configuration of the lot; where the
building is right on the "street line."

    "Miami theme"? Blah.

A renovation of the Rio starts in August. With no buffet. I never tried it when it was open. It didn't look that great. People have told me it used to be good years ago but wasn't anymore. I don't think it reopened after COVID. News media here says there
is a trend away from buffets at the casinos.

And that was another free semi-show that disappeared- the Rio's 'Promenade in the Sky' inside the casino. There was a track on the ceiling and a boat with showgirls circulated around 3 or 4 times throwing those necklaces strung with tiny multicolored
plastic cubes to the people below. A friend with two teenagers was visiting and I told the two kids I would give them $3 for every unbroken necklace they could get. It was hilarious watching them beg the girls for necklaces with tortured face gestures
and imploring arms. It was probably good training for their future relationships with women.

I'd eat the Rio Buffet many years ago when my players card rating could get me seated in that round room. The buffet there was better than average in Vegas and had a great italian ice cream station. Bellagio has been the best buffet I've ever eaten in
vegas if you want comparisons. Gold Coast buffet was absolute shit. You couldn't pay me to eat the Circus Buffet when they had it...tried it once when I was 21...never again. The Orleans buffet seemed pretty decent give the discounts and using
players points, but damn I've gotten the runs every time I've eaten the Orleans buffet....never again. And, I haven't been to vegas since 2018, so I don't even know if they still have Buffets.

The hotel is supposed to be based on of the famous Miami hotel of the same name, so what else would the theme be?

I've seen that show at the Rio a couple of times. The Rio was a great place when it was still owned by the Marnells (the original builders- 1990, ) but then they sold it, years later. They then built the "M Hotel" in the far South Valley, which is an
    excellent hotel/casino.

Oh, now they have to sell it with drinking because it's so boring? Drinking applies to every activity in vegas. But, you don't need to say drinking slots or drinking poker or drinking sportsbook.

It's impressive. It was a ginormous basketball to celebrate the Summer Leagues starting. The walkway bridge between the Pallazzo and Wynn is even more crowded now because everyone stops to take pictures.
~ I saw it in construction. Unimpressed. I saw it lit up. Pretty damned cool. I think I read it cost something like 2 billion to build. If so, that is nuts. It better be more than pretty cool for any ROI.

    C

I haven't followed the ins, outs, construction costs, and prognostications on The Sphere but given the idiot prices tourists pay to go to the nightclub DJ shows (Someone told me the DJs were paid $10-20,000 per show- for selecting someone
else's music, bouncing up and down and waving their hands.

    ~ The Fontainebleau (opening soon) is "Miami theme." Which is a good positive, but that would be an opportunity to build a "Strip attraction" out front of some kind; but then, there isn't any room to do it due to the configuration of the lot;
where the building is right on the "street line."

    "Miami theme"? Blah.

A renovation of the Rio starts in August. With no buffet. I never tried it when it was open. It didn't look that great. People have told me it used to be good years ago but wasn't anymore. I don't think it reopened after COVID. News media here
says there is a trend away from buffets at the casinos.

And that was another free semi-show that disappeared- the Rio's 'Promenade in the Sky' inside the casino. There was a track on the ceiling and a boat with showgirls circulated around 3 or 4 times throwing those necklaces strung with tiny
multicolored plastic cubes to the people below. A friend with two teenagers was visiting and I told the two kids I would give them $3 for every unbroken necklace they could get. It was hilarious watching them beg the girls for necklaces with tortured
face gestures and imploring arms. It was probably good training for their future relationships with women.
New NFL themed slot machines coming to the Strip. https://www.thestreet.com/travel/las-vegas-strip-casinos-adding-once-taboo-gaming-option
The hotel is supposed to be based on of the famous Miami hotel of the same name, so what else would the theme be?

I've seen that show at the Rio a couple of times. The Rio was a great place when it was still owned by the Marnells (the original builders- 1990, ) but then they sold it, years later. They then built the "M Hotel" in the far South Valley, which is
    an excellent hotel/casino.
    "Drinking-golf" at Mandalay Bay. https://vegas.eater.com/2023/7/27/23810235/50-million-mini-golf-adults-opens-las-vegas-strip
Oh, now they have to sell it with drinking because it's so boring? Drinking applies to every activity in vegas. But, you don't need to say drinking slots or drinking poker or drinking sportsbook.

Ya, this doesn't look like it'll last long. There are a zillion real golf courses in the valley and that huge driving range behind the MGM for golfers; and adults only go to miniature golf to take their kids, not themselves.

That's a lot of money for a miniature golf project though, and they already have them in other cities, so who knows if it'll be profitable: if they can "work-in" betting, it might.

I can envision articles about Daniel Negreanu v. Phil Helmuth in the "Finals" of the "$5,000,000 Mandalay Bay Miniature Golf Winner-Take-All Match Play Freeze out."

I think Negreanu has already lost enough money at golf. Was rather hilarious so many years ago that after a night at Bobby Baldwins room followed by a morning of nosebleed expensive golf, he had to take down his running balance sheet off his website,
got divorced, put his WSOP POY Pickup truck up on Ebay, and quit playing poker for the summer, followed by him going against his promise and signing up with Pokerstars.

Ya, I think I remember something a long time ago about high stakes golf with Daniel Negreanu involved; there was a promo video or something. He's still at it: got wiped out in last year's WSOP, but then had a huge comeback in another tournament a little
later for about a $5,000,000 win. It's no doubt all on his website.

It's now open, and a big hit.

With the reported ticket super-prices, will other hotel/casinos

One thing about The Sphere that I keep wondering about when the interior is shown: there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary (especially considering the total cost of the project) about the stage.

With the Cirque show, "Ka," at the MGM hotel, the "star of the show" was the stage.
It's "an engineering marvel." It just seems to be an automatic consideration to incorporate something like this into a facility of this level if you know what I mean.

There is a description of the Ka-stage in the article below.

I think Negreanu has already lost enough money at golf. Was rather hilarious so many years ago that after a night at Bobby Baldwins room followed by a morning of nosebleed expensive golf, he had to take down his running balance sheet off
his website, got divorced, put his WSOP POY Pickup truck up on Ebay, and quit playing poker for the summer, followed by him going against his promise and signing up with Pokerstars.
Ya, I think I remember something a long time ago about high stakes golf with Daniel Negreanu involved; there was a promo video or something. He's still at it: got wiped out in last year's WSOP, but then had a huge comeback in another
tournament a little later for about a $5,000,000 win. It's no doubt all on his website.
I don't think his website is being updated with much negreanu content lately as he sold it a while back I believe. I think any videoed event happened much later than the one I mentioned and he's way better off these days than back then.

Good report with video of "The Sphere" from "Miles To Memories."

It's now open, and a big hit.

With the reported ticket super-prices, will other hotel/casinos
now start building their own "Spheres"?

"Cirque de Sole" out, and top "Rock Bands in Spheres" in?
    Enjoy your $120 parking fee.

Different requirements when a different technology is star of the show. Plus, perhaps safety is a concern? Projects like these take a long time and have a lot of people giving input, though I also wouldn't be surprised if changes were made
occasionally to keep the show fresh. I'm guessing they'll be trying to rotate in new shows as they continue to build spheres in other locations.

Made me just realize something. Miley Cyrus has an absolutely terrible voice talking, but it sounds different singing....obviously, all that high tech is just changing the sound of her voice to make it tolerable.

I didn't think it was possible to "cover" Earth Wind and Fire's "Fantasy," but this band manages; the lead vocal doesn't attempt some of Philip Bailey's highest notes at the end of Fantasy, but a petty damn good job as it is.

Make that: "...pretty damn good job..."
