• California could be in SERIOUS trouble

As I type this post, it is April 25th, and 81 degrees at 3:30 p.m.

This is the first year ever that I bought flood insurance. Small consolation. I am terrified.

I remember watching ancient films of when they drained the lake. There were millions of migrating birds that used that lake for millennia. And, those birds tried to return only to meet drained farmland and died. In fact, I remember my first vacation
as a kid in the 70's. I was addicted to fishing and was pointing out every lack for my dad to stop at so I could fish. This lake was still on our map, but when we drove there is was already seasoned farmland. It took my grandparents to explain to my
dad and me what had happens decades before.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, in Central California, are expecting uncharacteristically high temperatures, in the 90s.

Take care. I've been reading about this in some places. https://wapo.st/3Vhf25J

California is a weird place. If it's not drying up it's flooding. If it's not flooding it's on fire. If it's not on fire it's buried under dozens of feet of snow. Not to mention the odd moments when shit shakes so much the buildings fall down on you..
. Flooding happening along the Mississippi this season. Wisconsin and Iowa. All quiet in the Great Lakes, I think.

Of course. Now Tulare Lake, yea, put on some hip boots because Kings River drainage can get messy. I lived in Tulare/Visalia for a while. I lived through the Kern River flood in ‘66 (damn near lost my car, and the warehouse I was about to enter,
floated away). Lake Isabella saved Bakersfield. All that nothingness will save those around Tulare Lake; and they’re already in Spill Discharge on the San Joaquin River, so Fresno will be okay. And Yosemite valley will probably be closed for a while,
no dams above that. I don’t know much about the drainage areas north of Fresno, but California always endures.

As a native Californian, those temps aren't that uncharacteristic as we approach summer. I can see it in my electric bill every year....it goes up in May...peaks in July/August....every year...year in, year out. Same thing with El Nino....every 7ish
years we get some big rains. Deep Sea fishing is usually pretty great in CA during El Nino years. If you want to pan some gold, this summer should be pretty good, too. Find some clayish spots behind big rocks above the water line.

You never told me that. I did not know that. Sorry to hear you went through that. Yes, I got a stent two years ago. Now I'm having little pains, went to hospital yesterday and cardiologist today. Stress test in a week I guess will show. My heart
started hurting only minutes after I hit that big jackpot a few days ago. I went out to the car after they paid me, blood pressure was 170/110. I decided to go home. My poor health is interfering with my gambling.

Yea, she put me on Amlodipine for mornings because I take Valsartan in the evenings. Just got back from Echo (140/70), and next week, Stress test.

I think the high blood pressure is from my Anxiety Disorder I got from Long Covid or cancer pill side effects. Who the fuck knows? Damn side effect of covid and pills have me fucked up.

I'm going to ask if taking more tranquilizers might cancel the anxiety disorder. I can't even watch a new movie.

I told the cancer doctor I'm taking tranquilizers or drinking wine and I seem okay. He shruged and said, "Just not both at the same time."

Congrats on your successful surgery, but your success was a lot more random than you think. 250K/year people die on the table or later from infection from surgeries. My dad had a stent and lasted a long time on it....never even heard of someone with

You are a POS, but I'll be nice about your meds. If your doctor only put you on 5mg, make sure you quickly go to 10mg once you feel you are used to the 5mg. It really made a difference in my dad's BP.

My dad was on 10mg amlodipine for blood pressure. It's just generic blood pressure meds. Not sure WTF she's doing having you take those in the morning. I think those are take daily pills, but as I remember, I'd give them to my dad at night. You
should consider asking your doctor why she put you on those in the morning and not before you went to bed. I wouldn't be getting apoplectic about being on Amlodipine.

I take that shit too, but I'd like to get off all the pills. I do a lot of garlic and find it helps blood pressure quite a bit. I carry garlic with me in my shirt pocket and eat it with meals. Raw garlic.

I wonder if there is a reason garlic powder would be any different from raw garlic.

I don't know, Jack, but I have always used raw garlic, not powder or pills. I know there is something called allicin in garlic that becomes active when you crush it. Crush it and let it sit a few minutes, so the allicin is released. It's a miracle
    drug. :-)

So wine it is... Gotta die from something...

Because, as I said above, I take Valsartan in the evenings. She may reassess after the Stress test and when I suggest the Long Covie Anxiety Disorder may cause blood pressure trouble. My Oncologist says the anxiety disorder is not from the cancer pills.
He's the only smart doctor I trust and has been right on other diagnosis.

I told my GP to set me up with a shrink (because it's chemical), not an analyst or phycologists. But she did nothing. I may go to the VA. She's a "Family Medicine Doctor," then she changed to Holistic. She does weird stuff. One office visit she 'cured'
me by waving her hands over me. (WTF?)

Then she sends me into another room for a 'free' trial on a new machine. Some kid puts a neckless on me with flashing lights, connected to box with a flashing light * WORKING * I ask this kid what the machine and neckless do. "It kills the bad cells and
    helps the good cells."

"So how's it do that?" He says he doesn't know but it a design form a generous, Nikola Tesla. I tell him Tesla invented the radio; then started a scam. Anyway I asked the doc, "Does Medicare pay for this?" She says, "Er, no not yet." She does the
required blood tests, then sells her patients vitamins to help with 'this or that.' "And I happen to have some in my office." When asked, he didn't know how.

She's a nut. I only use her because she's local and refills my drugs online. And the only GPs with openings have degrees from India or some Jamaican island. Otherwise, I just use her for references to other doctors, like when I broke a bone, or I need
other operations. She's the one that left a message, Friday evening, on my phone, that I had cancer. "Call me after the three-day weekend and I'll set you up with an oncologist. Have a nice weekend." You know what kind of weekend that was...

I don't go into any doctor's office without carring my recorded and studying up on why I'm going there. Fuckin pill pushers getting kickbacks from Big Pharma and finding ways to bill Medicare and my secondary.

    Physicians, heal yourselves.

I just got home from the casino. It's hot as fuck outside. Anyway, I took my blood pressure when arriving at the casino. It was like 160/95. That's not unusual for me. I sat at the bar and began playing video poker. I ordered a Vietnamese spicy
shrimp on rice bowl. I took out my garlic, peeled it, and put it in the bowl. About an hour or so later, I can barely pick up my head or arms. Pretty sure what is going on. I left and went to the car. Took my BP, it was 103/70. I am essentially a
cadaver. Now I'm home, an hour later, it is still like that. Garlic, and whatever spices were in the shrimp bowl. PS, I don't like feeling like this. BP too low. But it's better than too high.

So how does that work? You carry a full bulb of garlic in your shirt pocket or something? Swallow one clove in the truck as needed? Put a whole clove in your soup? I think I might carry a garlic press. Or maybe just some pre minced garlic in a baggy
in my pocket. It would make for an interesting traffic stop.

I carry two or three cloves in my shirt pocket. When I eat, I peel one or two cloves and eat it with my meal. I make sure it is crushed.
