.. repeat offenders and mass shooters.

'Tuesday’s meeting of the Assembly Public Safety Committee. Democrats on the committee killed a bill authored by Assembly Member Joe Patterson, R-Granite Bay (Placer County), to increase criminal penalties for domestic violence, human trafficking, and
other sexual crimes, such as rape of an unconscious or incapacitated person.

But Assembly Member Reggie Jones-Sawyer, D-Los Angeles, the committee’s powerful chairperson, dismissed that idea, telling Patterson, “You’re trying to say, ‘If we go back to three strikes, we will stop all crime.’ We’ve already proven that
    doesn’t work.” https://www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/article/california-democrats-domestic-violence-17845928.php

Can anyone guess why the committee's Democratic chairperson is so attuned to the best interests of domestic abusers, repeat offenders, and mass shooters?

'Reginald Byron Jones-Sawyer, Sr. (born January 14, 1957) is an American politician currently serving in the California State Assembly. He is a Democrat representing the 59th Assembly District, which encompasses portions of South Central Los Angeles, the
neighborhoods of Florence-Graham and Walnut Park, and a part of Huntington Park.

Jones-Sawyer is a member of the California Legislative Black Caucus, and served as Chair from 2015-2016. Before being elected to the Assembly in 2012, he was Assistant Deputy Mayor for the City of Los Angeles. Jones-Sawyer terms out of the Assembly in

    Leaving what for ‘regular’ penalties?

And it doesn’t. But that still leaves unanswered, what crimes are left for his ‘regular’ penalties?
And the fact the judge already has sway at to length of sentencing.

Yea, because again; “It doesn’t make sense to you,” because you don’t understand that it’s not about
“best interests” of those committing those crimes. Otherwise THOSE sentences would be lessened.

(Stand by for, “Gee, I don’t understand that, it doesn’t make sense ‘to me’).

I gotta back the Dems here for once. Each crime already has a penalty and various other facts can already lead to longer sentences. Plus, many of these crimes are already questionable. How many bazillion times does an angry controlling spouse lie
and say their sig other attacked them? A woman doesn't even need to show a mark to get her man arrested...and imagine how much easier it is if he already has a record. Similarly, it's kinda bullshit to accuse every john getting a BJ of engaging in "
human trafficking".....it's just prostitution almost always, but the Jesus Freaks came up with an entire new term to change the meaning of it. And, how many countless times have two grown adults both got drunk at a bar, had sex, and then the woman woke
up with regret and decides to blame her poor decision on the other person accusing him of rape? You want to charge those crimes, fine, but now you wanna enchance them, too? Nah...not with the dramatized ticky tack he said, she said stuff.
