• California/Fresno/Merced/Tulare, is getting Hammered

From Paul Popinjay@21:1/5 to All on Tue Jan 10 06:15:15 2023
I don't remember rain like this. I do remember heavy rain in south Orange County when I was 30-ish, but that was decades ago. This is the worst I can remember. Merced is under water. So many places are being evacuated. People on Hwy 99 are going
under 60 mph. These idiots usually do 80 in new rain, but not this time. That really says something.

Like an idiot, I went to the casino last night. In the dark, backroads, I came upon a washed out section and almost ate it.

California is a disaster magnet. You should get out of there. Move to Canada, maybe... Does all that rain do anything for the water shortage?

Technically we're still in a drought. There's a ton of water, but we need to save it. One good thing, there's enough snow in the mountains to last into the summer. Farmers are happy, for the most part.

I lived in Modesto for about a year and a half. Driving to work in the morning during the winter was scary. The fog would often be so thick I couldn't see more than 10-15 feet.

The fog should be rolling in tomorrow and Thursday. I'm not sure what's after that but I think more rain. For a long time our regular pea soup fog was not around, because we had no moisture anywhere. Now it's back. And you're right about 10-15 feet.
Try driving on Hwy 99 sometime between semi trucks, in the fog. Very scary.

It's pouring right now in Las Vegas. 'We need it' is what everyone here says when it rains and it's true but I still don't like it.

I heard Tahoe was getting hit... only because I saw in the news Jeremy Renner somehow managed to run himself over with his own plow. Nearly 50 and sunny in Chicago yesterday. Nearly 50 today with cloud cover. Pretty sweet for January.

70 right now and 75 for the day ... but it will get colder the rest of

    .
    That's good.

What's bad is that because of global warming and increasing heat, the snow melts too fast. This means storage overflows and the runoff ends earlier every year. Storage runs out faster and forests dry out sooner.

But you can’t say about what because you’re the fucking moron. Whilst I actually operated the water
system that feed you (San Joaquin River drainage area) and went into the High Sierra areas back areas
(Huntington Lake area) in snowcats with the Hydrographers for measuring snowpack; you were picking
your nose in the middle of your cotton field.. Moron..

The rain isn't getting far enough east to benefit the Colorado River.
