• New Ultima IV Easter egg?

From Tristan Miller@21:1/5 to All on Wed Mar 4 14:14:42 2020
    Howdy, everyone!

I was running my Commodore 64 version of Ultima IV just now and stumbled
upon a feature that I had never noticed before. Specifically, from the
main bootup menu (Return to the view/Journey onward/Initiate new
game/etc.) you can select which tune is played, or turn the music off
entirely, by pressing certain keys. Here's a list:

    B - Rule Britannia
    C - Castle Theme
    D - Dungeon Theme
    O - Overland Wandering Theme
    T or 1 - Towne Theme
    2 - Combat Theme
    3 - Shrine Theme
    4 - Merchant Theme
    0 - turn off music

This feature doesn't seem to be documented in the reference card. Am I
the first one to have discovered this?

    Regards,
    Tristan

Given the game's age, probably not but thats okay. It certainly isn't
common knowledge (anyway, I've never heard about it either). Then
again, very little about the Ultima games or C-64 programs is common
    knowledge anymore. :-(

It doesn't work on the PC version. Then again, I'm using the hacked
edition that added Roland music so who knows what was added and
    removed ;-)

The trick does work in the Apple ][ version though.
