    I don't think it is really cheap, but it is crap. Very few good brands
    of ice cream left.

    INGREDIENTS
    Milk, cream, sugar, skim milk, high fructose corn syrup, natural and
    artificial vanilla flavor, cellulose gum, vegetable gums (guar,
    carrageenan, carob bean), salt, annatto color.

    Many years ago, Breyers was a good brand but they crapped it up too.
    Years ago it had no gum. The company has been sold a few times too.
    Milk
    Cream
    Sugar
    Vegetable Gum (Tara)
    Natural Flavor

    Yes, pretty bad. I'm surprised that they say quite clearly on the
    packaging "Natural and Artificial Flavor Added". You'd think they'd
    hide that in the ingredient list.
