• Greetings fellow cooking enthusiasts!

From Justisaur@21:1/5 to All on Thu Mar 7 10:01:04 2024
Hi all! I'm longtime poster in other groups (all but one of is all but
dead or dead.) I was searching around for active groups and found this
one doing a bit of reading of seems like a fine group to join.

I cook mostly simpler quicker things for the family, I use ground turkey
a lot. My go-tos are spaghetti, chili, and kraft mac & chesse with
turkey & peas. I also make cheese omelets almost every day for me and
    my son.

I have a number of things I cook on rarer occasion. My family loves my waffles, but I'm really picky with them and think I need a much more
expensive waffle iron to do them right. Pancakes, Quiche, a couple
    sugar free pies.

Welcome Justisaur (or is it Justin?)

Be forewarned, no matter what you cook, some here will bitch about your
food. Trust me, no one here is a Michelin chef, but they'd have you
    believe they are.

Put on your asbestos underwear and buckle up!!!

There's only one rule: Lots of corn and lots of dead animal! Oh,
    that's two rules.

Strange that you're the family expert on something that you don't like
    yourself.

How does that make me an expert???

I'm not saying that you claim to be the expert, but that they see you
as the expert, apparently, because they always ask you to make it and
    bring it.

Oooh, ok. I don't make it, I pick it up at a local Publix grocery store.
First time was about 3 or 4 years ago I was asked to bring some different
dips, chips, crackers, and a dessert. I spied the street corn dip and
hoped they would like it. The wolves devoured it with many appreciative
yummy noises. I don't get the appeal, but as long as they like it.

    * Just like mixed nuts are often 75% peanuts.

True. But there are some brands that state on the can their percentage
of peanuts. Thankfully though, I do like peanuts.

I don't mind them either, but if it's 75% peanuts they should charge a
peanut price, plus a bit extra for the other 25%.

I agree. If I wanted that many peanuts, I'd just have bought a cannister
of them. The local Aldi has a great selection of many different nut combinations with very few goobers in the mix.

I cook mostly simpler quicker things for the family, I use ground
turkey a lot. My go-tos are spaghetti, chili, and kraft mac & chesse
with turkey & peas. I also make cheese omelets almost every day for
    me and my son.

I have a number of things I cook on rarer occasion. My family loves
my waffles, but I'm really picky with them and think I need a much
more expensive waffle iron to do them right. Pancakes, Quiche, a
    couple sugar free pies.

Welcome! We have plenty of folks here with all sorts of cooking
styles. I do a lot of quick items or ones that can be broken to 10
    minutes or less standing.

I don't use a lot of box kits, but I get it that many do and I use some 'pre-made' sauces.

LOL, Bruce by now has probably listed all the ingredients (and if there
are more than 1 type, the worst he can find).

I'm Carol, live in Virginia Beach. Retired now and do a lot of scratch
    cooking but not always.

Tonight, a box of stove top stuffing is part of dinner, along with last
of my Gai Lan (Chinese broccoli, has leafy greens not flowerettes) in
the steamer and some Korean cut ribs (same as pork ribs but cut across
the bones in 1 inch sections) that were marinaded in Lea & Perrins
Worchester sauce and Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce.

It's been a 'meatarian' week here. Normally it's mostly vegetarian but
goes in swings. Not doing that for any special reason other than Don
    (husband) and I like veggies!

Welcome Justisaur (or is it Justin?)

Be forewarned, no matter what you cook, some here will bitch about
your food. Trust me, no one here is a Michelin chef, but they'd have
    you believe they are.

Put on your asbestos underwear and buckle up!!!

You'll have to get used to Bruce. He's a Dutchman who lives in
Australia and is a rabid vegetarian, although he rarely mentions
cooking or eating anything at all, not even vegetables. Except the occasional can of mackerel, which I suppose makes him a pseudo
    pescatarian.

    Jill

He's not a vegetarian true. He just has pretend 'virtue' signals about
    it.

Justisaur, best to ignore him. He's best known for offtopic comments
and insults on the foods of everyone else.

Isn't that basically mayonnaise (jarred wino cum) mixed with chili powder
    and cumin?

Sorry Hank, I didn't see your question Thursday evening.

I'm not sure what all is in it, but I certainly see quite a bit of corn
in this dip. They request it every year and they also request pita
chips for this particular dip (that was a lucky guess first time I
bought it) as they say it 'goes' with it.
