I have an American friend who is a Republican but detests Trump.
However, although he will not vote for him next November, he will

I've been on it like flies on shit. The problems are so
random it seems like a general meltdown of the Highwinds
servers which now serve 90% of the Usenet traffic.

Google may have sucked for it's interface, but in the
background they served as a news backbone relay between
major news hosts. And they actually did that very
    competently.

Now Higwinds, Astranews, and Giganews (The Feds!) have had
to pick up that traffic. And Highwinds (AKA Blocknews.net
and a hundred other news services) are sucking at it big
    time.

EVERY appearance she has if the same speech.  I'll give it to her for
    going on SNL!

I really don't care. She's just as bad as all the other Republicans.
The only reason I voted for her is to cast a vote against Trump.
In November, I'll enthusiastically cast my vote for Biden.

It's annoying because I have been using Thunderbird for years. Over that

The past few days have been terrible. Not sure if it is blocknews or

computer it is not connecting as all. I even deleted and re-installed,
    no change.

I wanted to try eternal-september but that did not work either.

Blocknews is definitely acting up. I posted around noon yesterday
and it hadn't shown up by 6 pm. It's there now, so it perked in
sometime in the last 11 hours.

I wonder how many Republicans will have the brains or the decency not
    to vote for Trump.

    Not enough.

If it's a close race, 10-15% could make the difference.

And if that number (10-15%, for instance) will make
    the difference.

No, it won't. Most state primaries are "winner take all". Even
if Haley got 49% of the votes, all of the delegates to the GOP
convention would go for Trump. A handful of states pledge their
delegates in proportion to the number of votes received in the
primary, but not enough to matter.

Ah, yes, you don't do a popular vote. But it could still make the
difference in a few close states. If he needs all the Republican votes
in a particular state to beat Biden, but only gets 85% of them, that
    could make the difference.

Trump and Biden are not in contention against each other at this time.
Trump is in contention against Haley (everyone else having dropped out)
and Biden is in contention against Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson.
For the most part, the contenders who are not Biden or Trump are racking
up single-digit percentages of the vote, so we might as well say it'll
be Biden vs. Trump in November.

It's a primary, not a general election. We're choosing the candidates
who will be on the ballot in the November election. Both Trump and
Biden will win their respective primaries. This will trickle on
for a few more months, then the parties will have their conventions
in August to formalize the nomination of Biden and Trump.

Or will the Zombie Invasion be complete?

    It already is.

So you're saying Trump will be the next president.

That won't be decided until November. It's not looking good, though.
Biden's going to have to mount a hell of a campaign to counteract
people's false impressions of him and his accomplishments. Jesus,

However, although he will not vote for him next November, he will

There must be states where these anti-Trump Republicans can make the difference, assuming Biden doesn't have the same problem.

The only difference they'll make is to hand the election to Trump.

Sometimes that backfires. We had had Progressive Conservatives
provincial governments here in Ontario for decades, and they did a
pretty good job. Then they took a hard turn to the right and became more conservative than progressive. That created an opportunity for the
Liberals to win an election and their government was a disaster. A lot
of people used the protest votes, vote against the PCs and the Liberals.
We found ourselves with an NDP government. That was 30 years ago and
they left such a bad taste in people's mouths that I don't see them
    getting another shot at it.
