I'm pretty sure Gorton's has shied away from "minced"

    at least pressed OSB/fish veneers.

You must have some really old shit or else they still market

OK, you got me. You said "not minced". That was a cheap shot.

    They're 2 for 1 at Safeway/Randalls/Albertsons this week.
    And they're not bad.

These were on sale last week at Kroger and their other seafood varieties.
The light frying definitely improved them. I'll remember the lemon pepper next time, too, which has more flavor than just a squeeze of lemon.

They're so greasy that if you put them into a 460F oven on ROAST
    they fry themselves.

we just bake them about 14 minutes and then turn them
over and bake them longer and usually they come out extra
crispy because we go longer than the directions.

we make our own tartar sauce: dill pickles, onion
powder, garlic powder, minced dried onions, lemon juice,
mayo or Miracle Whip (if you like sweeter and with the
vinegar too), no lemon pepper or other things added.
the tartar sauce is best made the day before but even a
few hours before is not as bad as it could be.

Mom likes fish sticks and we buy the Gortons because
she likes them. i'm agnostic, whatever she wants she
can have. personally, a can of sardines is much better
to me in terms of texture, flavor and lack of breading
calories, plus much faster (no waiting for them to
bake). also i never put tartar sauce on sardines -
either they come with their own sauce (mustard or the
lightly smoked ones are what i would usually buy) or i
have hot sauce on hand. in recent times i've found
that the Beach Cliff sardines are often sprats which
are not as firm as the sardines that the Wally's World
name brand pack so those much actually be sardines as
they are a lot firmer. for the price either are often
on sale and i'll get whichever is cheaper.

I found the same is true of those pre-cooked jimmy dean sausage

These are definitely NOT greasy when baked as directed. Also, they were not greasy when I did a light fry of them because I used very little, pretty much a

The tartar sauce I've had with these is excellent, but it couldn't
rescue these fish sticks, thus the light, very light frying and the
    lemon pepper.

There's no such thing as an acceptable fish stick. It doesn't matter
if it's minced or non-minced. It'll always have a weird mushy, pasty, texture. I cooked up some frozen coconut shrimp in our new air fryer.
    It turned out pretty good.

Try an air fryer on the fish sticks (Gorton's are decent). Make sure

Why me? Sheldon first mentioned that and a steamer for re-heating.

Why you? Because you're the one who just posted this method. In case
you hadn't noticed, Sheldon said a lot of things that weren't
necessarily accurate. He didn't think anyone could freeze uncooked
corned beef brisket due to the salinity of the brine, either. He was
wrong about that. I've been doing it for years.

You're good at digging up old posts. If Sheldon said using a steamer
was good *specifically* for reheating *fast food fries* please point it
out. (I'll still refute the premise.) BTW, what would Sheldon know
about reheating fries from a fast food joint? He didn't eat in fast
food burger joints. He called any ground meat that was sold at the
grocery store "mystery meat". He ground his own burgers and scoffed at
anyone who didn't do the same. So why would he be needing to steam
    leftover fries?

BTW, she's talking *frozen* fries with the brand name of Checkers, not leftover fries she bought at a fast food joint.

Hi Jill, I was talking cold fries from McDonalds or Rally's (or Don's
bar etc.). You can also do the frozen ones.

Lots of people use an air fryer to reheat things. Pizza comes up from
time to time but mines too small to have the base of the basket hold a
slice. I'd have cut the pizza slice in half and by then, I just use
    the microwave.

I used mine almost every week to reheat pizza. I can get two slices into
mine. I preheat it for about two minutes and then cook them for four
minutes and they turn out nicely, nice and hot without petrifying the crust.

Look, Jill? Are you trying to become a biochemistry professor or something? who cares? I don't know how fries improve that way, but they just do OK? Just take my word for it. Those fried dumplings from Chinese food buffets heat up the best in
    double boilers, too.

Except she wasn't talking about leftover fries. If anyone wants to know >>>> how to reheat leftover fries in a steamer or double boiler I'm sure

Other things he said about cooking were valuable. He was a cook for awhile, you know.

Good lord. He was a cook in the Navy for about three years 50 years ago.

You're good at digging up old posts.

If they are good and about something interesting. You should, too.

    No, I should not.

If Sheldon said using a steamer was good *specifically* for reheating *fast food
    fries* please point it out.

Some people, like Sheldon don't like re-heated food, period. But STILL, the double-boiler was mentioned. And I use it for steaming because I happen to like it. Sheldon doesn't? Then that's on him.

Prove he said it was a good way to reheat leftover fast food french
fries. You're the one who is claiming he did.

Oh OK, well I've seen Checker's, Arby's and Red Robin's fries in the frozen section. I even think a relative of mine might have bought Red Robin's fries. I can't really remember, but that does ring a bell. I thought she meant a bag of left-over
fries from an actual burger joint.

It's apparent what you were thinking. I can't imagine Joan buying a
"bag of fries" from a fast food joint and bringing them home to reheat. >>>>>>> Try an air fryer. Works very well.
Yeah, you got the "fry" in fries part right.

I'm aware of that. Now I'm talking to you.

But, you weren't aware of that before I told you. That's the point

BS. Of course I was aware.

No, no way. I had to tell you.

It was Carol who mentioned reheating them
the air fryer. I spoke to you in her reply to you. I've switched
newsservers so now I see your posts. You're not back in the kf there
    with the other "Bruce" yet.

smaller area. Might be good to recall that when helping Jill figure
