• Pancake Tuesday

    From S Viemeister@21:1/5 to All on Tue Feb 13 20:53:09 2024
Anyone planning on making pancakes today?

I have a batch of crepe batter sitting in the fridge, and I've made a
creamy chicken filling for them. I'll spread the filling, then fold the
    crepes in quarters.

No, I haven't made pancakes in at least a hundred years although I do enjoy them.

we were going to make some earlier this week but then
Mom decided to bake some other things so i said skip it
and we'll eat what we already have on hand (cookies,
    boston brown bread, muffins, ...).

    Mmmmmm, sounds good!

it is nice when someone else makes them. :)

The chicken smells good, and I was surprised that the crepes turned out
so well - except for the first one. It's a few years since I last made
    crepes.

warmed up). breakfast was a small chocolate muffin
    with some frosting on it.

snacks later should be carrots and/or apples.

Most definitely. AAMOF I was just thinking about going downstairs and
making the batter. We have to eat early because I have a Zoom meeting at
    7pm.

Nope. Didn't grow up with that tradition.

I'm going to the store tomorrow to get blueberries for Thursday pancakes.
I make enough for three breakfasts. They reheat well on the griddle and
keep for 10 days or so.

I also make a pan of bacon in the oven, enough for four breakfasts.

Nope, no pancakes, no crepes.  I do have a very nice recipe for
chicken filled crepes but I haven't made it in decades and it never
had anything to do with Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday.

Crepes are handy for a lot of different meals and can be a main course
or a dessert. We had them for Christmas brunch.  Put a nice dollop of
yogurt on a crepe, put some fruit cocktail on top, roll it up and
    drizzle with honey.

Yeah... I'm not really into dessert crepes. I prefer the savoury
fillings. I have another nice crepe filling that calls for diced ham &
swiss cheese. I still have no plans to make crepes today. :)

Well, how else am I supposed to choke down yer stinkin' euro-pancake-thing? Just be glad that I didn't stuff that pancake with your stinkin' Nutella! That's just disgusting! Yer crepes are so bad that the kids will only eat it if it has chocolate
frosting slathered on it. Yoose gots a lot of nerve!

LOL Why did you make stinkin' euro-pancake-things? Did you want to try something new?

Sorry but those aren't crepes. They are just very thin pancakes. They
are quite different animals. There is more way more egg in crepes and
they need melted butter. There is usually one egg for a cup and a hal to
two cups of flour for pancakes but at least two eggs for one cup of
flour in crepes. There is no leavening in crepes.
